These days on Furcadia, a minimum of 53% of online furres at any particular time are actually bots. This is a stark contrast to the early days of Furcadia, when bots were extremely scarce. Only a small handful of furres at this period of time knew how to make a bot. Even Felorin didn't know how to make one, and he was often seen begging Mech to show him how.
Due to their small numbers, the few bots that did exist in early Furcadia were highly visible in the public eye and, quite often, were the subject of stories and rumors. One of the more well known rumors was an alleged love triangle between NoteServ, Info Furre and Help-bot. The stories became even more wild when Info Furre mysteriously vanished, never to be seen again, shortly after this announcement.
With Info Furre out of the picture, speculation of a NoteServ/Help-bot union became rampant.
Aside from generating rumors, early bots were also known for providing actual services to Furcadians, unlike most of today's bots. Information bots were a valuable asset to a Beekin-less Furcadia, and provided furres with a wealth of knowledge about many important topics.
NoteServ, Furcadia's first message bot (the first one named NoteServ, at least), provided much needed relief for Furcadians who were repeatedly lured by Felorin into message centers that didn't work, only to hear him cackling outside as they tried to escape.
NoteServ was not without its own troubles, however, and would often be caught passing notes between furres, which actually used to be against the rules in Furcadia. When this happened, NoteServ would be forced to read the note aloud to everyone present. One of these situations occurred with a love note from \\`arlock to ManekiNeko that resulted in exposing the existence of the, until then, secret group of Furcadian police known as the Owsla. After this incident, NoteServ was sentenced to become Allegria Island's very first shameless spambot, leading the way for generations of new bots.
NoteServ eventually had its name changed to Rose, and has haunted and pestered Furcadians througout the years.
The main reason why very few furres knew how to make a bot in the early days was because the ones that did know how didn't want to reveal their secrets because, really, that was all they had. The eliteness of the early botmakers was usually very apparent, sometimes in the descriptions of the bots themselves.
One of these elitist botmakers was scruffy rodent named Xaa. During his time on Furcadia, Xaa was a notable botmaker, Owsla, and polygamist.
However, it would be Xaa's pioneering work as the rah of Furcadia's first bot-sparring guild, called The Dream Weavers Guild, that would cement his position in the history of Furcadia.
As one of the first Owsla (a group that later became known as Onion Heads, and then later still as Guardians), public opinion of Xaa was mixed. His merciless handling of Furcadian troublemakers was seen by some as a bit too strict for a community that was still making the transition from the lawless honor system of Furcadia's infancy, to the new system of rules and regulations. He was sometimes even accused of making up fake rules to suit a particular situation.
It didn't take Xaa long to grow tired of furres on the main maps and their constant complaints about being booted for complaining about being booted. He finally decided to create his own village, where he could actually make the rules and not just enforce them. With the help of his superintelligent bots, Xaa built his village with a minimal amount of effort. Since the character God's Village was already taken, he had to settle for the name Xaa's Village. He scrapped the original guild name of The Dream Weavers, selling that guild name to Mech's female alt Dair, her magic 8-ball, and that stupid guy from That 70's Show.
A revolutionary new guild, Xaa's Village featured bot-controlled fighting and stat systems, a pookie-based economy and, most importantly, rooms with locks. The fighting arena and its neighboring tavern, complete with a wise-cracking bartender bot, quickly became one of Furcadia's most popular hangout spots outside of Meovanni Village, and, just as quickly, lost that status to another guild.
Another major guild that was founded around this same time period was The Circle. Headquartered first in the Jigsaw Joint, and then later moved to its own dream called The Sanctuary, The Circle was founded by Emerald Flame's daughter. One day, while watching her daughter play Furcadia, Emerald Flame saw how successful the guild was becoming. Claiming her daughter needed some help, Emerald Flame took over the computer and told her daughter to go play outside, and thus became the rah of The Circle.
In this time, before the Beekins existed, Circle members were seen by many as the official helpers of Furcadia. This baffled many Circle members, since most of them hardly ever left the Sanctuary, and therefore knew very little about Furcadia outside of it. However, they did their best to help any furres that asked them for help. Their methods were a source of controversy, as the most common solution to a furre's problem was to join The Circle and spend all their time in The Sanctuary. This even worked on Felorin, who was convinced by Emerald Flame that there was much about Furcadia that he didn't know.
Now there were, of course, many other guilds around this time, including guilds that claimed not to be guilds for one reason or another, such as AURA (Anonymous Unicorn-Riding Alts). Some guilds existed before Xaa's Village and The Circle, but since no one remembers them, they aren't really worth mentioning. Many guilds have existed since, however, and the worth of mentioning them is also questionable. But Furcadia's history wouldn't be complete without mentioning at least a few more.
This topic was all meant to be covered in one episode, but due to unforeseen circumstances and unforeseen logfile quotes, it has grown too long. Therefore, this will become a two part episode with Part 1 ending...... NOW!
